Our estimate stars out like most any other brick repair estimate, it begins by first identifying the issues. If there are any loose sections that may collapse during the brick repair project etc. Once we have inspected the damage we provide a free estimate. This is important as there are many brick repair contractors in DFW who do not provide a free brick repair estimate. The estimate is comprehensive and will cover all the brick repairs we identify. Why is Brick Repair Important?
An important reason for brick repair is to completely seal the brick. Cracks in the brick and mortar will allow moisture to invade the inner wall and even damage the structure. They also invite insects and other vermin to nest inside the cavity between the brick and the inner wall.There are many other issues caused due to loose wall units (e.g. loose brick offer little support to the existing brick above, and in many cases they can fall causing large sections of brick to collapse. This is an extreme danger especially if you have children playing near an area where loose brick are present. It is a liability that most homeowners do not want.

The BrickMagic Brick Repair System guarantees the repair will match any existing brick, masonry joint, and mortar texture. It is our Seven Step Brick Repair Process. That all our brick repair technicians are trained to follow.

Step One - We start by removing the damaged or crumbling mortar from the wall. We use an Angle grinder with a Tuck Point Blade, and cut into the damaged mortar joints a minimum of ¾ inch. This process helps to guarantee adhesion of the new mortar. If brick are damaged or brick are missing, we will prepare the area to receive new brick.
Step Two - Our system for matching the mortar every time, was created over many years of trial and error. We understand the measurements or units needed to create a basic recipe for mortar. (e.g. If we are trying to create a specific color we first have to match the shade. The shade is the under tone or actual color of the mortar before pigment or dye’s.) It is therefore important to have a basic color chart of the under tones before attempting any kind of brick repair. We can hold this chart up to a brick wall and easily agree on an exact shade. From that a recipe for that shade can be followed.
Step Three - Most brick repair projects are going to involve matching a specific color of dye to the mortar. After a shade has been mix, we are ready to identify the pigment used to create a specific color. (e.g. Our shade was 9/7 and the base pigment is Texas Buff). We add this dye to our premixed shade until we have created the exact match to your existing masonry joints. Using a blow dryer we can accelerate the curing and drying process of a sample of this mortar and again compare to the existing brick wall. If it is a match we will begin filling the joint.
Step Four - Many years ago masons used a Tuck Pointer to fill joints. But We use a Grout Bag. It looks like an Icing bag for decorating a cake. But it is an essential tool for brick repair. We can insure the mortar joint is completely filled using it.
Step Five - Brick Repair is never complete until the mortar joint is tooled down or (Jointed). It is therefore a very important step in making our brick repair match the existing.There are many different types of joints. (e.g. Concaved, V-Grooved, Tapered, Raked, and many others.) Once jointing is complete we will use a stiff brush to wipe away loose debris from the brick repair.
Step Six - No brick repair is ever finished until the smears are cleaned away. Smears can leave the brick repair looking armature. They also cause the brick repair to stand out. That’s why we always finish every brick repair job with an Acid Wash. Muritic Acid reacts to the lime in the mortar and breaks it down. Lime dries as a white film that when dry will appear on the brick as smears.
Step Seven - Our customers are pleased to know that we finish every brick repair project with a final rinse. This removes dust and debris from the effected areas and leave the entire site looking clean.
